Tacos, beer and a 5k (take 2!)

On Monday I watched the 2nd half of the World Cup semi-final with Matt. Short on cash, I lent him a few dollars. This is how he pays me back. Thanks, Matt.

I tried to pay it forward (by 'it' I mean 'the suckiness that is pennies') during race registration. They thought I was joking. When I revealed the 2 rolls of pennies, they told me to keep it and would rather give me the registration at a $1 discount. They refused $1 in pennies!? Maybe I should try to pay more things in pennies and see what free stuff is given to me out of pity. I suggested they use it as a paper weight for the bibs and left to warm up.

22 minutes and 53 seconds. woot. a 25 second improvement from last week and, while not technically a PR, an overall pace I've never run for that distance (my PR was a 5k which doesn't show up on internet searches and my watch measured short (3.06), i probably shouldn't count it). I ran out too fast again, I really need to work on that.

6th overall, that's kind of cool, right? Only 18 people, but there are two big local races on July 4th that attract most of the runners in the area. Definitely explains the lack of interest in yesterday's race.

Firestone beer. Don't call it Firehouse, they'll get pissed. It was delicious and Firehouse blows. They have every right to be pissed about any confusion

On my way to the 'beer garden', the Race Director, Jenner, handed me a gift card. He said they normally do a raffle, but b/c it was so light and b/c I brought so many pp (taking responsibility for 1/3 of the entrants or 6)

On a completely unrelated note, today I got stuck in the elevator for approximately 5 minutes. This is what I stared at for 5 minutes.

Anyway, if you ever get stuck in an elevator don't Facebook status about it. You'll be sad to find how many people "like" that you're stuck in an elevator.
