I don't have one. I used to run w/ headphones on all the time. I'd listen to books on CD or the latest pop jam. I'm not 100% opposed to music, but after a certain time ear buds can get annoying in your ear, the wrong songs shuffles into the mix too often, the battery dies and your stuck running w/ extra baggage you don't need, etc. I haven't run a race w/ headphones since 2007 almost never during training. There's way too much to think about, not necesasrily the act of running itself or the race you're running in, but my mind becomes clear and I can tackle some really serious issues running through my noggin (i.e. what now that the hills is over? what is it about spiders that I find so gosh darn creepy?).
In any case I think music is a distraction from the run. I use the run as a distraction from the clutter in my mind. You should try it.
not much going on in training. 30 minute treadmill tempo yesterday or as my coach likes to call it 'tradmail tempo' and a 60 minute easy spin that turned into 30 b/c sleeping was too delicious to pass up.
think about all the spiders you've swallowed in a lifetime during your sleep...
ReplyDeleteThe could have thought that you ran with something during the NiteMovesSD 5k no? I was thinking about not running w/ music since lately my "genius" playlist is tuning in some slow jams when I need the push. We'll see how I do this week when I'm in ATL and wherever else I end up.
ReplyDeletejo - gross
ReplyDeleteej - no. the only thing i ran w/ was my watch and my HRM.
