Failing to Fail

Watching this season's last comic standing, one of the contestants had a career day bit. Wanting to be brutally honest, he told grade school kids, 'only about 3-4 of you are going to make it. The rest of you will fail.'

Harsh? Sure. But without failure, can you really appreciate success?

Feeling pretty confident heading into my 5th marathon training season, I wrote the following (see full blog post here):

for every minute i PR, i'm going to donate $10 to the cityofhope.org or my next face book friend that does one of those 3-day walks.

As you may or may not know, I did not PR this past June and I did feel, for all intents and purposes, like a massive failure. I would've felt like a bigger #fail if I had given up on my goal and if I had not followed through with my donation. I'll look at it as a prepayment to my goal. credit cash, debit prepaid awesome? *Accountants across the blog universe fall off their chairs laughing.*

If you'd like to donate, go HERE. Cat is cool people and 60 miles is no joke!

Speaking of jokes, the last comic's punchline was "America needs failures. they provide chicken nuggets and lap dances - and I like both." If that's not motivational, I don't know what is.
